Recognizable as a vessel shape, Peter Powning designed the sculpture serves as a beacon, especially at night with the glowing translucence of the tumbled recycling glass contained within the vessel. Upon closer inspection the sculpture reveals itself as a symbolic container embodying a particular quality in memorializing the tragic accident.

The vessel’s five ribs represent the victims of this accident.
